Dad used up the remainder of the scrap wood to make a play kitchen. It has two doors on hinges (scrounged from the dump), and all of the wood is recycled from what was sitting behind the garage (that Mathea and Dad had washed off previously). The only things that were purchased were the door handles, the urethane, some little hooks, and some drywall screws. This is replacing Mathea's plastic kitchen.
Mona found an old desk at the dump. Papa Chugger fixed it up and sanded some of the old paint off. Dad sanded it some more and gave it a coat of urethane, and dad and Mathea painted the inside bright yellow.
Then dad built a chair from scrap wood, which has shelves in the back and underneath, and is reportedly very comfortable.
We had a great Christmas. Mathea was so excited about her stocking stuffers, she had to check them all out before moving on the the remaining presents.
The local Home Depot (and all the other ones nationally) run a "Kids Workshop" the first Saturday of every month. Here are some of the projects Mathea has built. This gallery will be updated as new projects get done, or old ones get painted.
The Blue Angels appeared at the "Great State of Maine" airshow at BNAS. We didn't go to the airshow itself, but we did watch the Blue Angels perform from the park in Topsham, which affords a great view without the crowds.
